Cone of Uncertainty

Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go," whether to the right or to the left (Isaiah 30:21, NIV).
As a relative newcomer to the east coast I have spent much of the past couple of weeks watching weather reports and tracking Hurricane Joaquin.  The meteorologists who tracked the storm referred to the "cone of uncertainty" associated with the hurricane's landfall -- a term I had not heard before. Because of various factors during the storm's development it was impossible to precisely forecast what track the storm would take.

For many of us, life is a cone of uncertainty.  There are variables we cannot control and circumstances we don't anticipate which can set our life on a totally different course than we had in mind.  Life, just like the weather, can be full of anticipation and unforeseen outcomes!

Exercising faith in God sometimes requires us to take a bold step toward uncertain outcomes, trusting that God will redirect us if we have moved prematurely or in the wrong direction. When seeking and following God's will, often we find there is a fine line between waiting on God and fear of failure. Are you ready to face your fear, step out in faith, and see where God will take you?
