20-Minute Workout

Do you remember the exercise show, 20 Minute Workout?  This short-lived television program ran from 1983 to 1984 in the early morning hours on one of our local television stations.  I used to get up insanely early to work out with these three women who did aerobics on a rotating platform.  Now I get up before sunrise for a different kind of 20-Minute Workout.

The Bible tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that we are to take care of ourselves not only physically, but also spiritually.  In 1 Timothy 4:7-8, we are told, "Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives talkes; rather, train yourself to be godly.  For physical training is of some valuse, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

In taking care of these temples, let us focus not merely on our physical bodies which will eventually deteriorate.  Make sure that you also take care of your spirit by feeding on God's Word and talking to your personal spiritual trainer (God) each day.  As you age, your body will eventually wear out and fail to serve you.  But if you begin now to spend a few minutes each day nurturing your spirit, you can remain vital and useful until the day God calls you home.
